| Save Capstone Valley Action Day |

On Sunday 19th August, Medway Council held their annual "Kites over Capstone" event which normally attracts crowds into the thousands. The Capstone Valley is under threat from a group called "Medway Magna" who are proposing to build 9,200 houses in the valley - destroying one of the few remaining areas of outstanding natural beauty in the Medway area. Local Conservatives have led the campaign to defend Capstone and have already collected 10,000 signatures on a petition opposing the plans. We thought we would run an information stand at the "Kites over Capstone" event to raise awareness of our campaign.
9.30am - and it's all smiles. The day is young, the sun is trying to break through the clouds, and Tracey Crouch is clearly looking forward to enjoying a good day in the countryside. ![]() The new "Team Crouch" rugby shirts get their first airing..... ![]() .......and then it started to rain. ![]() ....and rain ![]() ....and rain ! ![]() Cllr Alan Jarrett (whose ward includes Capstone Valley) closes his eyes and tries to remembers what warm sunshine feels like. ![]() A stylish Tracey Crouch in a fetching Tory-blue kagool ![]() Cllr David Wildey and Alan Jarrett practice their "Waldorf and Statler" impersonations! Our thanks go to all the helpers and to the Medway Council staff at Capstone Valley who worked so hard to prepare for this event and managed to remain cheerful despite to weather.
